A Simple 10 - Point Self Publishing Checklist 

Read this to feel calm and confident

1. Finish the book first 

Don't worry about publishing while writing. One step at a time

2. Fix your book size early

    Choose your trim size (example : 5.5 x 8.5) , everything depends on this.

3. Lock the final page count 

    Covers depend on page numbers. Small changes matter. 

4. Decide paper type once 

    White or Cream - Just decide and stick to it. 

5. Keep editable files with You  

    Always have the source files (Word / InDesign). PDFs alone are not enough. 

6. Use KDP Calculator (always) 

    Never guess spine width or cover size. Let the tool decide. 

7. Bleed is not scary , just something extra 

   Background colors/images should slightly go beyond edges. That's all. 

8. Rejections , Feedback ( Hard ) are normal , not personal 

    Almost every first book gets rejected either by the publisher or even by your reviewer. It's part of the  

    process. Do not take it personal. 

9. Upload with care , don't rush 

    Ex : The KDP previewer catches things humans miss. Trust it. 

10. Write down what you learn 

    Your next book will be 10x easier - and you will help others too. Just like me :) !!
